Playing Holic Mode

HOLIC MODE (EXTRA HARD DIFFICULTY)
I just finished playing "Wotaku Mode" and unlocked a difficult which called "HOLIC". At first, i thought it was just an extra version in Akiba's Trip Plus and when i found out the design of major characters got repainted.

Yes, like this
And after finished prologue sequence i started with getting a mission fighting a bandman near station when i fough
t him it turns out. HE'S FREAKING STRONG!!!! My well-equipped weapon just gave him a bit scratcth while his single attack could loosened my clothes. At it seems that his powers were counted 3 times stronger than usual. While struggles in Holic Mode, i just found out that junk shop were offering special feature. It was 'over 99 power up' which can make your weapon grow beyond the limit so you could gain weaponry that can help you to fight equally with overpowered Holic characters.

I couldn't completely understand Japanes but what i know was by selling a 99+ item only in Holic Mode in Junk Shop you will find Kevlar or Tungsten which written "Kai (改)" and yes it can help you reinforce your item up to +999.

  1. I know that Otaku mode is unlocked by beating the game once. How did you unlock Holic mode? Beat Otaku mode? But it just enables Chibi char. Is Holic mode located below Otaku mode in difficulty selection?

  2. Hey thanks for the comment son. It has been years since i played this game so i am sorry that i can't recall 100% about it but i am sure that i unlock this mode after playing wotaku mode. If you haven't unlock it by first try, i recommend you to finish wotaku mode again by different route.

  3. I completed the game in wotaku difficulty but didn't get holic mode unlocked, just chibi/giant view unlocked. I first cleared wotaku mode in original and moved to PLUS carrying data from original but still didn't get holic mode. It seems that I HAVE TO completed wotaku mode in PLUS as well to get it unlocked and I did.

  4. I just unlocked holic mode but after re-reading your post, I gotta be careful. Thanks to you post, I was thinking of making some preparation to face holic mode. I re-loaded my endgame wotaku save and made lots of +99 clothes till I run out of money before fighting the final boss.

Struggling in holic mode even with fully upgraded equipment, does it feel even worse compared to playing wotaku mode without upgrading equipment?

    1. That's Sega for you. They're ready to give players nicest games and most unforgiving games.

    2. But hey, do you know the move of calling bat's(Stunning enemies when the bats hit them) and impersonating Kamehame-ha(Close range high damage move)? If you combine them into fighting tactics in 1-on-1 fight you can be practically unbeatable.

※Using those move may reduce your clothes's health so you can automatically recover the clothes health when you deactivates you fighting stances and let your character tidy up their clothes. You can do the recovery in the time when the enemies are stunned.

    3. The only special attack I use is R1+[]. It makes the target stunned but I still wonder if the clothes health reduces if I fail or succeed to stun the target since the health sometimes takes damage sometimes no damage. I usually just stick with normal attacks.

    4. Well, anyway just stick with the fighting style you preferred. My tactics are very dirty anyway.

    5. I'd like to use yours. Please teach me. Since I don't really know about most special attacks although I already have all the skill books.

    6. Well, the technique is pretty simple but you must be handu of using it.

      1. First, the move for calling bats is pressing R button and Circle button together. Doing that needs enough "distance" so your enemies won't disturb you.
      2. Then when the bats hits your enemy and stunned them for a while, get close to your enemy use the Kamehame-ha (impersonating) moves by pressing R button and L button and Circle button together. Giving your enemy huge damages for every parts.

※ Since the skill drains your clothes' health, it's recomended to halt your fighting stance and let your character tidy his/her clothes to recover the health by pressing L button in-battle.
※ Then you have the "Stand by me" pose by pressing R button and L button and Square button together which increases your attack button temporarily, it doesn't take much time so you can do it just at the time you make your opponent fall.

    7. Got it. Thanks a bunch. It really works.

Btw which part of clothes health gets drained? Depends of skill? It seems that the lower body gets drained first.

      Hapus
    8. Btw what button to press if I wanna smack people, just like any non-kageyashi female usually do after being completely stripped?

  5. BTW the easy mode also gives the player notification as well when picked aside of holic mode. If I have to guess what it says, it'd be the "skill" that only available in easy mode. This "skill" effect is the player can damage the target's all clothes parts (headgear, upper body, lower body) one at a time, no matter which part of clothes you are attacking. The "penalty" for playing this mode is if you get used to this "skill", you'd have great struggling if you play on higher difficulties. I guess that's the notification said if you play easy mode.

  6. I guess I'm not prepared yet to play holic mode cuz of lack of enhanced weapons although I'm prepared in term of armor (thanks to imouto so I don't really need to farm kevlar :D). Too bad I took kageyashi route in my last play so I cannot collect weapons for farming tungsten before I end the game, unlike NIRO and co-exist/moderate route where I can collect weapons by killing kageyashi rockers that I can find almost anywhere in the endgame.

  7. About the remaining models, I bet I must clear holic mode to have them unlocked. Are the remaining 14 models just the holic (repainted) version of all major characters? Do I have to play all 3 routes in holic mode as well in order to get them all?
